Therefore, since God does not allow even his servants to commit the sort of act you claim he perpetrates himself, it is clear that you have fled from honoring him no less than from human reason. Consequently, we are not deceived, as you say, by Pelagian error; we are guided by God’s law when we maintain that it is unjust to charge children with their parents’ crimes (Deuteronomy 24:16).
