And they ask Peter craftily. καὶ πανούργως ἐρωτῶσι τὸν Πέτρον. ἐπειδή, φησίν, ἔθος ἔχει τοῖς τοῦ Μωσέως ἀντιπράττεσθαι νόμοις, οὐδὲ τὸ δίδραχμον τελεῖ, εἰδὼς ὅτι καὶ ὁ Χριστὸς ἦν εἰπὼν "οὐκ ἦλθον καταλῦσαι τὸν νόμον, ἀλλὰ πλη ρῶσαι", καὶ ὅτι τῆς οἰκονομίας ὁ τρόπος τοῦτο ἀπαιτεῖ. τούτοις μὲν οὖν εἶπεν ὁ Πέτρος–ἴσως ἐρυθριῶν ὑπὲρ τούτων διαλεχθῆναι.
