God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers. Where the gifts of the Lord are placed, therefore, there one ought to learn the truth — among those with whom there is the succession of the church from the apostles, and what is sound and blameless in way of life, and what stands unadulterated and incorruptible in speech.
