Ignatius — Epistle to the Magnesians 13
Strive, then, to be established in the teachings of the Lord and of the apostles, so that you may prosper in all you do: in flesh and in spirit, in faith and in love, in the Son and the Father and the Spirit, at the beginning and at the end. May you prosper together with your bishop, most worthy of honor, with your presbytery, that finely woven spiritual crown, and with your godly deacons.
Submit to the bishop and to one another, as Jesus Christ submitted to the Father, and as the apostles submitted to Christ and to the Father, so that there may be a union of flesh and of spirit alike.
