Commodian — Instructiones 3
And old Saturn — if he is a god, when does a god grow old? Or if he was a god, why did he devour his sons driven by terrors? But because he was not a god, he consumed his sons’ bowels in monstrous madness. He was a king on earth, born on mount Olympus; and he was not divine, but called himself a god. He fell into weakness of mind and swallowed a stone for his son. Thus he became a god; of late he is called Jupiter.
